Who is Audrey Babineaux George ?
My family consisted of ten girls and seven boys. Many of my accomplishments were made possible because of the strong support that I received throughout my life, first by supportive parents and family members, especially my identical twin sister, Maudrey Babineaux-Bergeron. We were all French-speaking and were brought up to value our French language and culture. I retired as a high school teacher of French, Spanish, and English in 1994. My husband, Robert Gabriel George, Sr. retired as an elementary school principal in 1993. He always encouraged me to participate in activities outside the home which he knew I valued greatly. Among my most prized personal achievements are: being on the ground floor of establishing CODOFIL in 1968, serving as Louisiana State Supervisor of Foreign Languages, receiving the Academic Palms by the French Government, being honored by the France-Louisiane Association in Paris, the Quebec Conseil de la Vie Francaise en Amérique, and the Belgo-Louisiane Association in Brussels, and last but now least being honored by the Association des Babineau de L'Acadie.
The Council for the Development of French in Louisiana is a state agency whose basic objective is the strengthening of cultural, touristic, and economic ties between Louisiana and French-speaking countries namely, Canada,France, and Belgium.
My husband and I established in 1991 the A La Maison Cajun Bed & Breakfast Association. It consists of 40 families located throughout Lousiana who can receive four to eight persons at a time. Most of these homes, especially those located in South Louisiana have at least one person fluent in Cajun French. We can lodge up to 100 persons per day. We receive at least l00 buses of French visitors annually.
Therefore, if the charm of Louisiana interests you, do not hesitate contacting me. With only one call, I can do it all for you.
See you soon, and...
